Pinoy music, or Pinoy pop, became popular in the early 1970s, with songs generally sung in Tagalog. It was a blend of rock, folk, and ballads that used music to express political sentiments in a way that was similar to early hip hop yet transcended class. The music represented societal realities and difficulties and was a "conscious endeavour to develop a Filipino national and popular culture." The Juan De la Cruz Band performed "Ang Himig Natin" ("Our Music"), largely recognised as the first example of Pinoy rock, as early as 1973. "Pinoy" became popular in the Philippines in the late 1970s, when a rise in patriotism resulted in the hit song "Tayo'y mga Pinoy" by Filipino folk singer Heber Bartolome ("We are Pinoys").
With over 100 songs and music you will never be short of music to listen to.
